Update on the Clemson McElrathbey Brothers
Certain things truly restore your faith in humanity. This is one of them. While flipping through ESPN.com I saw this story about Ray Ray and Fahmarr McElrathbey. As you'll recall Ray Ray McElrathbey is a freshman CB at Clemson who was awarded temporary custody of his younger brother Fahmarr. The NCAA granted Clemson a waiver to provide assisted care to the brothers in an attempt to keep Fahmarr out of foster homes and with his older brother.
Since then Clemson and one of the local banks have established a trust for the McElrathbey brothers to assist with Fahmarr's education and care. To date, almost $50,000.00 dollars has been raised.
Before this it's doubtful that Fahmarr would have had much of a chance to establish himself as an individual being constantly in and out of foster care. Now, thanks to the generosity of all kinds of people, irrespecitive of class, color or creed, he has that chance. He will be able to stay with a brother that cares for him deeply. Educational, emotional and developmental doors that were closed to him before due to his parents' ongoing addiction problems, have swung wide open. He now has the opportunities to succeed that so many of us take for granted every day.
All because people truly do care about their fellow man.
