If there's a photo that sums up the Rose Bowl better than John Greilick's photo for the Detroit News, I haven't found it. A desperate flail by an overmatched Michigan team as USC goes sprinting by. The voters were right. Michigan wasn't supposed to be in the national championship game. I just wish Michigan hadn't gone out of its way to prove it so vehemently.

Congrats to the Trojans. I'm going to go throw up now.

A tough loss to be sure. However, you have to look on the bright side. I've heard that Hart will be back for a senior year. Nothing beats having a stud RB return for a final season.

DeBord lost us that game. He must be fired, immediately.

Man... I'm still reeling over what the hell happened. The blame for this debacle has to rest on the shoulders of the Michigan coaching staff. They did not make the adjustments in the second half, USC did, and raped us. Carr got soundly outcoached in the big game (yet again!).

I've never seen a Michigan team get so clinically ass-raped like that - since, well, the last time we played USC back in Rose Bowl 2004.

This may be a bit crazy and I'm sure a lot of fellow Wolverine alums will bite my head off, but am I off in saying if next year's team doesn't do the following:

a. run the table (including taking out OSU)

b. get to the national title game (I figure it'll either be USC or Florida)

then Lloyd Carr should be fired?

The team we have coming back next year is probably the strongest one we've had since 97 - looking over the horizon I can only see two squads (Florida and USC) who would be able to give the Wolverines a run for their money (on paper at least).

I guess that means fuck all when Carr consistently shits all over his hand during the big games.

Be careful what you wish for, anon 11:56. UM has a grand tradition under LC of losing to an overmatched ND and at least 1 Big 10 underling (e.g., Wisky, Minny, ...) before mid-October whenever they come into the season ranked in the top 10. In 1997 they flew in under the radar, as they did this year. Until, well, you know. It's hard to be living in C-town these days...

I hear you anon 5:30am. Which is precisely why LC should go.

Fine, I get it, he was one of Bo's boys, he's a "good guy" and all that - but he has shown a propensity for losing the big game on a consistent basis, not to mention (as you have noted) the random away game to an inferior opponent that usually knocks the Wolverines out of National Title contention by mid-October.

I mean does this sit well with Wolverine fans? This constant underachieving? I think with the institutional power/attractiveness that Michigan football has there should be no reason why the Wolverines can't be National Title contenders every year without resorting to scumbag tactics like Tressel and many schools in the SEC.

Just a thought.

Are you sure that's not a photoshopped version of Mike Williams leaving Markus Curry in the dust? Sigh...
